What if my undergraduate degree is not in design or technology?

Students entering this program normally present an undergraduate major in industrial arts, industrial technology, or a technology-related subject major. Students with a background in design or technology will usually be approved for a 30 unit degree.

The Department of Design and Industry does accept students with other undergraduate majors in cases where students desire to make career changes and/or wish to do advanced study in design or technology related subject matter for enhancing career development and professional growth. For non-majors, a minimum of 12 additional units, to be determined by advisement, are required. These additional units encompass such areas as design, graphic/visual communication, tools, materials, processes and skills.
