What types of skills will be required in my field?

As a DAI major, you will be introduced to many of the design thinking, problem solving, organizational, conceptual, and practical skills of the design trade. Strong sketching and fabrication skills will be important for all design fields. Today, for entry level designers, strong computer skills are in high demand. For Visual Communication Design students, this might include mastery of such programs as Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, HTML coding, and Dreamweaver. For product design, software might include AutoCad, Solidworks, Pro-E, Rhino, and other modeling programs. You may want to supplement your coursework in the DAI Department with additional coursework and training to hone your computer skills.
