NCIIA Grants

Application deadlines: December 2, 2005 and May 5, 2006
Twice yearly, the NCIIA awards grants totaling over $1 million to its member institutions to support and strengthen invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship through curricular development and the work of E-teams. This year, we are offering grants in our traditional categories, and will introduce a new grant category in May of 2006.

Course and Program grants are awarded to institutions for the purpose of strengthening existing programs or building new programs in invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Funded programs provide students with opportunities for multidisciplinary, real-life, team-based learning experiences that go beyond the scope of typical classroom work. Grants of between $2,000-$50,000 are awarded for periods of 1-3 years.

Advanced E-Team grants provide E-Teams with the support they need to bring an innovative product or technology to prototype, and eventually to market. We fund projects from a wide expanse of fields, including biomedical, software, wireless, toys, environmental remediation, and more. Grants of between $1,000 and $20,000 are awarded for periods of 12-24 months.

Coming in May 2006
Sustainable Vision grants are a 2005-2006 NCIIA initiative. These grants will be awarded for programs and projects designed to bring about break though improvements to the environment and to meet basic human needs such as food, water, shelter, health and safety, applying an entrepreneurial mode to the dissemination of technological innovations. Sustainable Vision grants will demonstrate sustainable business practices such as the use of renewable resources and community-based partnerships. Detailed guidelines for Sustainable Vision grants will be available on the NCIIA website in early 2006.

Other NCIIA Grants
The NCIIA awards resource grants for new initiatives that will develop into useful resources for E-Teams. We also award dissemination grants to faculty to present NCIIA-related papers at professional meetings, and competition or conference sponsorship grants to organizations that share similar objectives. These grants are awarded on a case-by-case basis, by written request. Contact the NCIIA at info@nciia.org to learn more.
