Michelle Steed has proven her leadership in the community through her roles as the Industrial Design Society of America Officer: Vice President 2004-05 & Secretary 2005-2006. and Student Director of the Industrial Design Outreach Program (iDo) and is currently the Director of iDo's Alumni Association.
As Student Director of iDo, Michelle has contributed enormously to the success of the program. IDO promotes the field of Industrial Design and uses its methodologies to enhance the education of both high school and university students. Through hands-on interdisciplinary design projects, IDO provides high-school students with experiences that foster curiosity, promote creativity, and build self-confidence. By developing and delivering design curriculum to high-school students, university students gain experiences that promote teamwork; enhance communication, organization, and presentation skills; and provide a forum for participants to give back to their community. Michelle has lead iDo projects at the Abraham Lincoln High School, San Francisco’s School of the Arts (SOTA), Academy of Art & Sciences High School and the Thurgood Marshall Academic High School. Through her outstanding work in iDo, Michelle Steed has rightly earned the title of COMMUNITY CHAMPION.
