Web Designer Position at SFSU

University Development is currently seeking a Web Designer.

The position serves as a part time (10 to 12 hours/wk) web designer for University Development and Alumni Relations. Key functions of this position include design, maintenance, production, and implementation of department websites and email communications targeting alumni.

The position will work closely with both Development’s marketing and communications departments. In addition s/he will co-ordinate with University Public Affairs and Publications to ensure University wide communications guidelines are being complied with.

Qualifications/Requirements
• Background and strong interest in graphic design for the web
• Strong knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, ImageReady, font management, and FTP applications
• Good working knowledge of Javascript, HTML, XML
• Knowledge and troubleshooting skills related to browser compatibility issues
• Ability to work effectively with short deadlines.
• This job offers a flexible schedule but candidate must show up to work on time once schedule is agreed to ensure deadlines are met.

Website Design, Production, and Maintenance
- Make regular updates to web content and graphics
- Revise all current web assets to incorporate the University’s new branding
- Manage the Alumni Association’s online community administrative dashboard, uploading and downloading email lists and creative assets. Work with site’s vendor as needed
- Testing and sending emails using an established calendar/schedule
- Update content supplied by Director of Communications for the department’s monthly alumni e-newsletter
- Possess good knowledge of web design/production methods and related software, including Dreamweaver, Contribute and Fetch
- Create and implement user interface and visual design for web, including conceptual design, navigation, layout, typography, graphics, and icons
- Test pages for proper display and content rendering for cross-platform and browser compatibility

• Web Management
- Perform testing on various platforms/browsers
- Participate in ongoing development and modification of sites and web applications, including the assessment of existing site functionality

• Copy Writing, Editing, and Proofreading
- Assist in editing and proofreading of all work to ensure accuracy
