The office serves as a central hub for many of the department’s activities. Office staff and faculty help coordinate department affairs. In this room, students can regularly access the department’s library of design-related reading materials. The office is housed in Fine Arts 121.

Our Mission Statement

Our group promotes design and gives an opportunity for students to network with each other and the local design community. We utilize the tools at hand to positively influence the Design and Industry department at SF State, the University as a whole, and local design in San Francisco.

Mission Statement

To enhance and promote a strong design community among the students and faculty at SF State. Our goal is to:

1. Facilitate design and professional awareness through both educational and professional exposure.
2. Provide a platform for students to express their ideas and knowledge to others in a creative and social environment.
3. Raise the level of design quality by providing an arena for members to openly discuss, display, and critique relevant design issues.
   

The Furniture Institute of Technology and Sustainability (FITS) is a center for design and research developed within the Graduate Program of the Design and Industry Department at San Francisco State University.

Our Mission

The Design Center for Global Needs has been the research and development component in the Department of Design & Industry (DAI). The Center promotes and fosters community, national and international curricular and research activities. The Center is dedicated to research and development that will lead to design solutions for local, as well as global issues, such as: universal design, design for the aging, disaster relief, affordable housing, community economic development and design for the environment.
