Transforming Oppression through Racial Justice & Queer Allyship
Participants will learn essential terminology and an overview of the dynamics of oppression. We will explore the role of cultural, familial and institutional messages in creating and sustaining oppression. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of the ally in eradicating various forms of oppression.
About Dulce Garcia
Dulceis a Queer Chicana born in Mexico City and raised in East Los Angeles. She graduated from UC Irvine with two Bachelor’s degrees and received her Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies from San Francisco State University. Her passion and commitment to serve underrepresented and underserved communities is rooted in an anti-oppression framework that is evident through her work experience, community organizing, and leadership. Dulce is a CA State certified Rape Crisis Counselor and has served as a Bilingual Community Education consultant for San Francisco Women Against Rape for the past seven years (SFWAR).
