Assistant Professor Sosa-Tzec talked about the application of social semiotics and rhetoric to the design of user interfaces and experiences in HCI Day! 2021, an event organized by the School of Mathematics of the Autonomous University of Yucatan and the Software Engineering Student Organization We Workshop. HCI Day! comprised talks about design philosophies, processes, methods, and best practices to design effective and pleasurable interactive systems. Sosa-Tzec described how designers can utilize foundations from design, human-computer interaction, social semiotics, rhetoric, and customer experience to ideate interfaces and microinteractions that are psychologically and affectively impactful.
