GUEST SPEAKER XIMENA ROZO
This coming Thursday, March 9th, students in Prof. Porter’s Senior Design project (DES.505.02) will get to learn the importance of research in developing innovative design solutions, through a conversation with guest speaker Ximena Rozo.

Ximena’s work spans a broad spectrum, from designing interior parts and architecture of the Boeing 787 passenger cabin to teaching a Design, Strategy, and Innovation course in a Master’s program, to the development of a sustainable enterprise for the advancement of the handicraft sector in Bogota, Colombia. In addition, she has experience in R&D with 15 U.S. patents in aircraft design and numerous design awards. As the founder of Ximena Rozo Design, a studio focused on Product Design, Research, and Strategy, she centers her attention on product development, where textiles become objects and handicrafts evolve into contemporary artifacts.
CX/UX/UI Consultant, Design Thinker, Coach on User-Centered Design and IT Professional Development with didactic experience as Associate Professor of Design, Strategy, and Innovation.
Ximena Rozo received a Bachelor of Arts in Textile Design (1996) with a minor in Political Science from Universidad de Los Andes, Bogota, Colombia. In 2002 she earned a Masters of Industrial Design (2002) from Pratt Institute, New York, NY. Subsequently, in 2007, Ximena completed a Certificate Program in Design Firm Leadership and Management from the University Of Washington, Seattle, WA. She graduated in October 2015 from Georgetown University with a Certificate Program, Business Administration and Entrepreneurship. Ximena is MIT trained in Design Thinking and has multiple certifications, including Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) from Scrum Alliance D-A-CH e.V.; UX Certificate from Nielsen Norman Group, Design Thinking from Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business. Ximena consults on Customer Experience / User Experience / User Interface and Digital Transformation at Aflac.
