Scholarships

The School of Design offers scholarships for all undergraduate and graduate students in our programs.The College of Liberal & Creative Arts also has scholarships available for undergraduate and graduate students. The School of Design’s "Design and Industry Award" is a scholarship for students pursuing a degree in Visual Communications Design. This award was made possible through a bequest from the estate of Henry and Sandra Aguirre.  Henry Aguirre was a President and Board Member of the San Francisco Club of Litho and Printing House Craftsmen, which eventually merged with the Printing Industries of Northern California (PINC), now VMA, the Visual Media Alliance.  The Aguirres were deeply connected as friends and mentors within the SF State School of Design, supporters of the printing industry and education.

The "Martin Linder Scholarship" is for students pursuing a degree in Industrial Design. This award was made possible by the generosity and fundraising of Emeritus Professor, Martin Linder.  Designer, educator, and community actionist, Prof Linder dedicated his career to the next generation of design leaders. Even though he has retired from teaching, his impact on our student's success lives on.

This endowed scholarship was established  support underrepresented and deserving students in their senior year (7th semester) pursuing a BSID_PDD in The School of Design. The Award is $2000.00. TO APPLY FOR or be considered for nomination/recruitment based campus scholarships, you must have a SF State ID number to be able to sign in and begin the scholarship application. Once you complete the General Application, scholarships that are currently “open” will be recommended to you if you meet the basic criteria (e.g., gpa OR class level OR major). Read the scholarship eligibility requirements and questions carefully to determine if you are qualified BEFORE applying. Spend a little time here.
