Lee Friedman has decades of experience in design and the visual arts. His work has received awards from the AIGA, the Society of Publication Designers, Communication Arts, and Graphis. His design practice has focused primarily on publication design, branding, and visual identity. He's been a Creative Director at several magazines, as well as design and consulting for various tech companies and design agencies. These days he finds that balancing his time between teaching and working with his own clients keeps him more than sufficiently busy.

Prior to all of the above, Lee began his career in photography in New York City by assisting prominent photographers including a year or so exclusively with Steven Meisel. Subsequently establishing his own studio, Lee shot fashion, still-life, and portraiture for both advertising and editorial clients including Vogue, Esquire, Spy, GQ, and The New York Times Magazine among many others. Currently, his work in photography is focused on non-commercial projects.

Lee has taught at Rhode Island School of Design, SUNY New Paltz, The San Francisco Art Institute, California College of the Arts, University of San Francisco, and San Francisco State University.
