April 25, 2024
Prof. Hsiao-Yun Chu has been awarded a Fellowship from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in conjunction with the Library Company of Philadelphia to support her work on the history of industrial design and industrial design education in the late 19th century. "Primary source research is critical to the study of history," says Prof. Chu. "This grant will allow me to study one-of-a-kind archival materials to write a more accurate and nuanced history of design in this period." The Library Company of Philadelphia is one of the oldest lending libraries in the United States, founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1731.
